From Idea to Embroidery
How your Glenfield design becomes something personal
Every custom Glenfield head cover starts with an idea.
It might be a name, a set of initials, a family crest, a company logo, a golf club logo or a design that exists only as a rough sketch. Whatever form it takes, our job is to help turn that idea into embroidery that looks considered, balanced and made to last.
It Starts With Your Idea
The first step is understanding what you want to create.
You may already have finished artwork ready to use, or you may simply have a concept in mind. We can work from logos, drawings, and digital files.

At this stage, we consider the overall style of your head cover, the available space and how the design will work alongside your chosen colours and materials.
The aim is not just to reproduce an image. It is to make sure the design feels right for the finished piece.
Preparing the Artwork
Before a design can be embroidered, it needs to be prepared for stitching.
Unlike printed artwork, embroidery is built from individual stitches. Lines, shapes, lettering and details must be translated into a format that an embroidery machine can understand.
This process is known as digitising.
Our artwork is carefully prepared to determine the stitch types, direction, density and sequence needed to recreate your design. Small details may need to be simplified, while larger elements may require careful adjustment to ensure they remain clear and balanced.
Good digitising is where the design begins to take shape.
Choosing the Right Stitch
Different parts of a design require different approaches.
Satin stitches can create smooth, clean lettering and defined edges. Fill stitches can add depth to larger areas, while running stitches are useful for fine outlines and delicate details.
The choice of stitch affects the appearance, texture and durability of the finished embroidery.
It also affects how the design sits on the material. A head cover is not a flat sheet of fabric, so the artwork must be prepared with its shape, construction and movement in mind.
Creating a Sample
Once the artwork has been digitised, we create a sample.
This allows us to see how the design translates from screen to fabric and gives us the opportunity to assess the scale, spacing, thread colours and overall balance.
A design that looks perfect on a computer screen may need small adjustments when it is stitched. Lettering may need to be opened up, details may need to be strengthened or the size may need to be refined.
This stage is an important part of the process. It helps ensure the final embroidery looks as good in reality as it did in your imagination.
From Thread to Head Cover
When the design is approved, the embroidery is ready to be produced.
The fabric is carefully positioned and secured before the machine begins stitching. Each colour is added in sequence, building the design layer by layer.
Although the machine provides precision and consistency, the process still requires close attention. Thread tension, alignment, stitch quality and fabric movement all need to be monitored throughout.
The result is not simply an image placed onto a head cover. It is a design built directly into the material, stitch by stitch.
The Finishing Details
Once the embroidery is complete, the piece is checked carefully.

Loose threads are trimmed, the design is inspected and the embroidered panel is prepared for construction. As the head cover is assembled, we make sure the embroidery sits correctly and remains clean, even and well proportioned.
The final result combines your idea with our experience in materials, construction and embroidery.
Made to Mean Something
Personal embroidery can be subtle or expressive.
It might be a small set of initials, a bold logo or a design that carries a story only you understand. Whatever you choose, the process remains the same: an idea is considered, prepared, stitched and finished with care.
That is what makes a custom Glenfield head cover different.
It is not simply selected from a catalogue. It begins with you and is made into something that belongs to you.
From your idea to the final stitch.
Design by You. Made by Glenfield.
